Collection: Tamek handmade
“Living in Lanyu is also derived from this land. From gathering soil in the mountains to the final kiln-fired product, everything is handcrafted personally. I hope you can carry this small piece of Lanyu with you.”
The Tao people have their own lunar calendar and seasonal rituals, traditions, and taboos passed down from generation to generation, forming the core of their way of life on Lanyu Island.
Every year, when the Flying Fish Season ends, it marks the start of the Tao people’s pitanatana– the "Pottery Month," which is considered the best time for pottery making.
Traditionally, only men are allowed to participate in the pottery-making process, adhering strictly to the taboos and customs passed down by their ancestors.
